Join MACRI for a virtual presentation by Dr. Cynthia E. Orozco, preeminent scholar of Mexican American civil rights history, on her new biography of Alonso S. Perales.

Alonso S. Perales (1898-1960) was a principal founder of LULAC, lawyer, diplomat, public intellectual, and consummate advocate for the Mexican American community.

Dr. Cynthia E. Orozco is Professor of History & Humanities at Eastern New Mexico University, Ruidoso. She is the author of No Mexicans, Women or Dogs Allowed: The Rise of the Mexican American Civil Rights Movement, Pioneer of Mexican-American Civil Rights: Alonso S. Perales, and Agent of Change: Adela Sloss-Vento, Mexican American Civil Rights Activist and Texas Feminist, as well as a prolific contributor to the Handbook of Texas Online.
