About the event
Forty years ago, the US Supreme Court ruled that all children - regardless of their citizenship - are entitled to free public education under the Equal Protection clause of the 14th Amendment. Join us for a presentation on the landmark civil rights case, Plyler v. Doe, its impact on immigrant children and families and where it stands today.
Celina Moreno, J.D., the president and CEO of IDRA, a national non-profit organization dedicated to equity and excellence in education, and former director of policy and litigation for the Southwest Regional Office of the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund, the nation’s leading Latino legal civil rights organization, will be our guide through this landmark civil rights case.
